Very nice and innovative. Can you let me know which blank and guides you use as I am wondering how you achieve the balance between the 2 descipline.

The blank is a St Croix 3S66MF2; guides all alconites - size 6 TT, 4 x BLAG 6J, then 1 ea 8J, BYAG10J and 12J. The ten and twelve are fairly close, around 6 inches. Down to the 8 they are set up concept style, and spaced such that the 10 works like a tamer guide. with the butt section attached, the balance point is slightly forward of the spinning reel foot, say about the forwared edge of the reel seat

That's a very interesting set up. I'm curious. What are you going to be chasing with the fly rod? I can see a lot of application down here (SE) pulling Bass out of cover.

Yes, that's the point. I'm in south Georgia, and wanted a short rod to help clear cover but have the "stump pulling" power of your average overlined bass fisherman. I can easily cast 50-60' of fly line (not counting the leader) and I'm by no means a professional caster. Plus, no problem throwing the larger bass bugs...BTW been out of town for the holidays, or would have answered sooner.
