Your reel seat is positioned up-locking. Over here in Asia, down-locking is prefered. Most spin reel seat of mine, especially light spin rod are mostly fly reel seat as they are better looking. The combo above would look very different if you we5re to use a nickel silver reel seat skeleton from Struble and possibly a Matagi butt balancer with a matching wood holder. Just thinking aloud Jay. Your next job for me will be for my "Classic Limited Edition".

Mike, I've looked for an alternative to these buttcaps, but I have not been able to find anything that would work in it's place. I don't want to do a closed end wood butt, it just wouldn't be durable enough. I don't like the big bulky buttcaps that have the knob on the end. Anybody know of a good alternative buttcap for these type handles?

Ellis, the wood is Maple burl in the handle and foregrip. The reel seat is made out of Tiger Maple. The checkerboard is Purpleheart and Maple. I really like Maple burls, they have a lot of character.
