This young man, Jeremy, works at a tackle shop where I get my rod building supplies. He is a very polite person and everyone that knows him is thrilled that he caught the tarpon fishing from a pier in Galveston, Texas. The state dept. is going to use it for an exhibit. Jeremy donated the fish to the state parks and wildlife dept.

Hi William,
The state certified it at 210 lbs. and 11 ozs. I heard that Jeremy had run around all night trying to find a place that was open that had a certified scale. He found one at 10:00 next morning. Everybody that I have spoken to is very glad for Jeremy. He had his mind set on catching a record fish and finally did it. He spent many a day and night fishing off of that pier while watching guys trolling for tarpon beyond the breakers. NEVER GIVE UP! NEVER GIVE UP! My goal is to catch a record Hard Head.

Wow! I was going to chunk some Cajun junk if I found out the thing was in the 150 range but I will now have to tip my hat to De Man!! I will bet the crabbing around that pier will now improve!

Hey Guys,
I saw the fish Saturday afternoon in Austin at the Outdoor Expo at TPWD's headquarters. It was iced down in a large display vat. I had no idea it was even on the grounds. I was walking through the Sea Center's display tent when I saw it and realized it was an extremely large tarpon. I don't think that most of the people around at the time realized what was in front of them. TPWD had a short type written sheet of paper that said it was the new pending state record Tarpon and the weight. What a great fish to be caught from Texas waters. Congratulations to Jeremy on his catch
