I just finished a 6' M/L walleye/smallmouth rod with a very similar setup - I have about 3/4" of grip on either side of the NPS - I LOVE it. I built it similar to yours - with the hookkeeper and a feather inlay/decal up the blank a bit from the handle - nice to be able to set a finger directly on the blank. I didn't put anything in the split grip area - but keep contemplating adding something there. Very, very light rod! What did you do at the front of the reelseat?

I dyed a bit of epoxy (AFTCOTE) and simply poured it in to fill the void. Seems to do ok. Jay
