Had my own reel seat made up but decided to use a factory pearl seat I had laying around instead, just for a bit of flash. After very carefully chiseling the recess to fit it, it bound up just a smidge when dry fitting... Apparently, a smidge is too much for cedar. It's glued and clamped now, but I don't think I'll be able to save it so it's back to planing out another one... shrug, sigh, dang it.

Ouch!... thats a "gall, garn, blast" and put a boot through the sheetrock kind of deal. Thanks for posting a pitfall and sorry for the loss.

Yeah Mike, that was pretty close to what I said:) I knew I was pushing my luck in the first place with the way the grain was running. I'm glad it happened now to save what most likely would have happened later anyway but still... Arrghhh! Hey, I didn't like the grip anyway... (that's what I'm telling myself...lol)
