It's my first attempt at a fly rod. The handle is made out of Curly Maple with Padauk, Walnut checkers. The other grips were prototypes that I didn't care for. I want to put a feather inlay with a ramp on the pole but haven't quite figured out how to make the ramp. If you have any tips on how to construct the ramp please e/mail me. Thanks

Awesome!!! Great work. Your e-mail is hidden on the Forum and you didn't list it here, so no one can e-mail you. E-mail me at mbarkley@wowway.com and I can help you with the ramp

Sorry my e/mail is Mark@Hallada.com . I also used a 1/2" graphie insert inside the handle as you can see in the prototype so it's as light as cork.

Thanks Raymond. The arbor did two things 1) Lightened the grip 2) It made fitting the grip to the blank a whole lot easier. Mark

You could make a longer forepiece there and turn a ramp right onto the front of the grip. Shoulder it at the point where you want the grip to start and then wrap right up to the shoulder. A coat of finish would then bring the two surfaces flush.

That's not a bad idea. I was going to put an expoxy frt ramp on it but I can turn a test piece tonight and try that first to see how that looks. I have a couple of acrylic pen blanks laying around so I will try that first. Mike, Raymond and Tom Thanks for the insite and help. I'll try to post another picture when it's done. Mark
