This is a pic of the 500# plus Bluefin Tuna I caught yesterday on the custom standup rod I built this spring. Thanks to all for the help and advise!

HOOOOOOYAA!!! That's a lot of sushi! How much sweeter it is that you caught with a rod YOU built yourself! I bet your head is bigger then that tina right now and will be for quite a while LOL! Rightly deservred!

It was so rewarding catching it on the rod I spent countless hours building... and wondering whether it would stand up to the challenge. I have to say, it fared buch better than me- I feel like I got runover by a truck and the rod looks like its ready for the next fish!

Jerry- We had the fish to the boat for a harpoon shot in an hour and a half, but missed. The fish sounded and we didn't get color for another hour. Overall it took three hours to best this fish.

Myles- I used a Seeker CTSF55XXXH Blank (which I trimmed some off the butt section), an American Takle #2 bent butt, WO66 Wind on roller guides, and F14 EVA Foregrips. I got a lot of help from Mudhole and Donart, and both were happy to help (though they thought I was nuts to try to land a giant on a 50W- I think they were right...lol). If you would like more details I'd be happy to share, just drop me an email: dan_shoemaker@yahoo.com
