That yellow looks pretty bright. Did you paint the blank area under the yellow wrap? That catfish decal is really nice! I would have faced it towards the tip
but thats just me. Great job with the collage too!

The photos were taken in the sunlight, so all of the colors appear a bit brighter than they really are. The yellow color is Gudebrod Goldenrod NCP. I probably should play with the colors a bit to see if I can bring them back to reality. No white paint underneath...just tight wraps and CP.

Very tight and clean work Erik. Excellent collage too showing virtually the entire rod and highlighting the artistic thread work. Thanks for sharing.

Now that one takes the cake!!!! I have nightmares from wrapping LSU rods. A purple and gold 15 foot surf rod will surely be a one of a kind!! We really don't have very many beaches left after the storm and I will keep my eyes open to view this one in action at Grande Isle! I wanna meet a guy who would spend that kind of cash for a gaff top catfish! Congrats Erik you win the award and we welcome you to the Swamp Boyz Invisiline Builders Club!

This rod will be used for casting bait for blue catfish in some of the locks and dams along the Mississippi river. The owner has the current IGFA record 78# Blue catfish on 12# line... hopefully he'll find another record with this rod.

I had a fishing camp on the river just south of Natchez, Miss. on one of the ox bow lakes. In the spring the floods would bring the big ones from the river into the lakes. I have seen many of the fish you describe. My rods will not handle them - we gotta jump in the water with them and wrestle them to the bateau. I wish your rod and your customer well! Good Luck! I thought IFGA meant In Grease For All. We don't weigh them - just skin and into the grease they go! If he sets the catfish world record send him on down here and we will put him on a yellowfin next!

I am a graduate of the Old War Skule and have one semi official comment on your thread colors. You nailed the Purple and Gold and added the White as a trim. In these days to be politically correct you must have an equal amount of black thread to properly balance the white. There have been several litigations filed in local courts.

Nice work Erik! Takes a brave man to use that much yellow, and a good hand to make it that sharp!
