I've never used these larger spools of thread. I've got an old renzetti/clemens lathe, and I dont think they would fit on the thread holder which employs a wingnut and washers to apply and adjust tension. On these larger spools on dowels like you have above, how do apply tension...do you run the thread thru a book or one of those tension devices?

I think he only uses it to re-fill smaller spools. He puts on a few classes a year and it's nice to have the thread available. It's nice to wrap multiple threads at once and he will load a little spool to order. I wrapped my 4 axis fade with 5 threads at a time! (Cheating)
