These are the newest addition to my shop. I made the stand for the molds and thought the whole contraption looked pretty cool so I'm posting it. These are molds that I can use to cast end caps machined by some of the best avionics machinists in the world. The case is another failed attempt at a vacuum chamber to illiminate the bubbles through the interior of the finished castings. I'm doing this so the finished parts can be turned down on a lathe. I think all that needs to be done is a bead of silicone on the interior edge of the blank ring on the lid side and I've aced the vacuum chamber. Attempt#? Sad

Your post just gave me an intersting idea. I have vacuum sealer I use to store fillets. It came with a separate jar that can be attached and the air removed with the vacuum pump. Wonder if I can mix epoxy in a small cup, place inside the larger jar, and then vac out the bubble....mayby worth a try.

I hope the inspiration goes well for you Bret. As for me it looks as though the reusable two sided tape has too much of an open cell foam and is the reason I am loosing vacuum. On to the weather stripping from my wrecked truck's door now.

Go figure all I needed was a different casting material. The vacuum pressure turned out to be extreme and I buckeled the door before I ever got the pressure needed. Live and learn I guess.
