Did you do both of teh wraps at one time, or seperately? I've begun doing both at once, cuts teh time in half. Only problem is installing the grips, but with some creative thinking it can be done rather easily. Nice rod.

I did them seperately, and yes it took forever, there is over 400 yards of thread on that beast :-) I don't know how well it would work sliding wood grips over the finished thread work. And I am not confident that the grips would stay put over thread???. I might just be chicken tho.

Scott, build up the blank with epoxy, or instal the wood grips & reel seat over bushings/arbors made from masking tape or drywall tape. Or instal a bushing material before doing the wraps, and instal over that (Cork, FC Arbor, graphite bushing,e tc)
