This is the completed Tiger Eye 8'3/4wt, 4pc travel fly rod. Maple Burl handle, cocobolo insert, gold plated cap/ring, gold SIC single foot guides and SIC tip top and a gold folding hookeeper.

I have used wood handles on rods all the way down to 1 weights and they balance nicely (using the correct reel seat hardware and type of wood with regard to the length of the rod). As far as enduring the water, two coats of polyurethane seals it well, never had a problem dunking the handle in the water (no swelling). I really like the feel of the wood handle, it is not slick when wet, will last a lot longer than cork, and is very pleasing to the eye. By the way, love all of your rods!
