Great looking rod! American Tackle Aero comfort seat. My current favorite! Wish it came in more sizes/hood colors. List as a casting seat but I use it for spinning

Stan, just a thought but did you try it turned around ? Threads toward the tip.
This way your hand is on the ball not the threads.
Mike -- paint them

I chose to use that same seat on a rod I'm building now. I mounted the seat the other way. It is a split grip as well. I will post pics when completed.

bill, the threads are cut to length, so your hand isn't on them. i tried it every way this just seemed most comfortable with the reel foot held between your ring finger and pinky.

Stan,
If you have no additional grip material in the equation, the down locking setup is the most comfortable. However, I think that if you add about 2 inches of back grip, you will actually find the rod much more comfortable to fish, if you use the reel seat with the threads pointed forward and two inches of grip toward the butt of the rod.
Beautiful rods!!
Take care
Roger

Roger huh?? I don't find that so for a spinning rod. The thread part is way to thin for my liking downlocking. After 3 years everyone who has tried this rod likes it. Different strokes for different folks.
