These wraps are from my latest project. See the grips gallery for descriptions of the rod.

I'm a big fan of REd metallic underwrap with Red Nylon over, no CP. I'm assuming this is what you did? Nice job.

Actually they are separate bands (i.e. no underwrap). I tape down a short piece of the metallic gold and metallic red thread (and 2 tippet loops) and then start the main colour for 4 wraps to trap those lines. I then cut the 3 ends (main and two metallics) off. I then do the metallic bands using the loops to pull the tag ends under the main wrap. Then I continue the main wrap for the appropriate length. Near the end I trap two more pieces of metallic thread, finish off the main wrap, insert two tippet loops, do the metallic wraps and pull the tags ends under. I go through all this mess because the metallic threads create an unsightly noticeable lump under the standard nylon thread. I'm sure there are faster and better ways to do this but because it's a fly rod I really wanted to minimize the amount of thread and glue. I CP the whole thing and finish with a low finish (LS Supreme) epoxy.
