This is a pattern that I am working on. It will eventually go on a white surf rod.

This symbol is known as "Lauburu" in the basque language and it means 4 heads (lau : four, buru : Head); some people say that it reminds four water drops. It is also called the basque cross, and it the most mysterious symbol of the basque people. It is a solar symbol and is supposed to bring luck, fortune and good health...everything I wish you Ellis.

Ralph,
I did this weave on a wooden dowel using Holland C and D threads. I still have a few spools left from the 80's. When I weave the lauburu on a surf rod I will probably use the same threads but the pattern will be tightened.
Frantz,
Wish me a good bottle of Merlot. I used to have a girlfriend in West Texas. She was very Castillian, blond hair and green eyes. When I told her that I was Basque she said, "No wonder you are so strange." The relationship didn't work out.

Ellis,
You cannot be so strange if you enjoy a good bottle of Merlot. Have you tried any of the excellent Merlots that are being made in Western Washington? They are being acclaimed as some of the best Merlots in the world. I think that some may even be better than a girlfriend from West Texas. I am sure that some of the Cabernets from Western Washington are better than a West Texas girl friend.

Hi Emory,
I have not tried the Washington wines. Now I will have to.

Nice work Ellis. Had a hunch that might be Holland.
