Hey Sammy,
Well done! I don't know if I would care for the metal ferrules but I think
I will try your design. I have a spin/fly rod combo in my gallery that has
a bit different design and I am building another one with a tennesee handle
design. So far, I think the tennesee handle design is far more practicle but
that remains to be seen. Let us know how you like it in use! Thanks for posting!

It's great, but then again I made it so I may be a little bias. Kidding aside, when I was getting a few ready for the Show a few months ago I had to test cast it in the dark, the cold dark. I was really suprised how well it casts my 5 wt line. I believe the keys are finding the right blank and then if you go with ferulles like I did you will have to put in some time to find the right ones. I found out the hard way mfg's size them different.

This is the way the old Japanese spin/flly rods were made. You just popped the handle off the rod, flipped it around and went back to work. The metal ferrule is in the handle and on the very butt of the rod, so it's not out there where it's going to cause havoc with rod action or balance. It just makes a very simple way to reverse the handle from one to the other. I wouldn't recommend it on very heavy rods, but on these lighter ones, it works surprisingly well.

That's really neat. What do you use to close up the ....uh... butt hole when you flip it around? lol.

Found a rubber plug that fits or for the bling I also have a chrome plug. They are low priced so I can afford to give the customer a few with the rod.
