This is the centre section of a handle being turned on the lathe. Contrasting decorative ebony rings can be added to each end to complete the handle. The intention was to create something original and the inlays started out as a variation of my earlier "single helix" design.
As it turns out, the conical shaped inlay on the left of the photo is almost certainly a variation of Ray Jorgensen's "petals".
So much for originality on my part!
Oh well, back to the drawing board!

Yes, the One-Way lathe is a joy to work with. It represents one of the few, and by a long margin the most expensive power tool that I possess, but well worth the investment. Incidently, I believe that One-Way has discontinued the 1018 model.
