Nice job, Mike!!! So, are you going to stick with the box or back to the carriage?

Good question Sean. I'd probablly consider both. I did bands in the box, singles on the carraige, there was no packing done on this, just burnishing. The fisherman will NOT see the gaps, only a rodbuilder or thread artist will see the flaws.

Top notch work Mike. Like Ray said, "There is a lot going on" but you have put it together exceptionally well. Love that green thread.

Mike.....do you mind elaborating a little bit about the "box" method you're using? You can email me if you want to at fin_addict@bellsouth.net
Thanks,
Steve

Six...I'll never doubt those that claim they can do a closed wrap in less than an hour anymore. Steve, its just a Plano box with holes drilled through the top to feed thread through. Still held the thread in a band with my filthy fingers.

Michael, I truly enjoy looking at your work. Jesse Buky showed me the box technique about a year ago, and it's all I use for butt wraps. My first attempt was with 8 threads and I ended up with more thread on the floor than on the rod. I kept at it and can now handle them with little trouble. I haven't totally closed a wrap yet with this technique, but after seeing yours it is next on my list of things to try. Again, excellent work!!!

Mike - nice job. Always good to have various techniques & skills under your belt. Bruce, Jesse also showed me the box. All it is is the old Speed Wrapper from Clemens, on steriods. All you need is spare wooden spools to transfer from the main spool to smaller spools, or you can buy 6 seperate spools of each color. I've got a few hundred wooden spools leftover from my last order.
