Very unusual. What did you seal it with?

I love it and have been meaning to try one on a fly rod. Perfect cigar grip shape. My house is surrounded by acres and acres of this stuff so supply is not a problem. Did you ream out the pithy center and mount the cobs with arbors or is the blank butt diameter large enough that you didn't need arbors?

Yes I cleaned out the soft center and installed a mandrel that would fit and installed it on the lathe. Installing it on the blank, the inside is not straight or true throughout the cob so you have to experiment fitting it to the blank. I used masking tape, did not use arbors.
(All Corn Cobs are not created equal). You need to experiment with several corn cobs, getting the right length or diameter that you need for your handle. If you have acres of corn to experiment with, that’s great! Good luck! Let me know if I can help in anyway.
