Ray,
I have made a button nub for the rod that matches but the practical side of me will probably over rule and use a rubber one. I do think your idea has merit however!

Looks very nice Stan. Did you use arbors through out the whole handle or just on the seat?

I used arbors in the grip portion for about 3/4 0f the length but not in the seat as I turned the seat in an hour glass shape to reduce weight. The arbor shown in this photo series is a view of the butt portion of the grip.
