Interesting design. I'm not familiar with the Phillipson sliding seat. Could you share more about its function and I'm also curious about why you chose some of the other design critieria. I'm assuming that when you say ultra-ultra light it's the weight of the lure that's ultra. I'm interested because in some of the N GA reservoirs, the Brown Trout that were introduced to control the Blueback Herring are beginning to make spawning runs up tribuataries. They are incredibly spooky. I would like to build a rod that I can launch micro-jigs from way, way back from the mouths of the creeks. And, handle a 18"+ Brown making a run into open water. Would this set up accomplish this? Any other ideas?

Hi Steve. The guy I am building this for wanted to challenge him self. Wanted maybe a 0-1 wt ?? I figured that would be toooo light. A Dan Craft FRS III 2 wt was used. More a mod-action. Wanted it for panfish. Wanted a long handle to stick under his arm. he measured it. Seat is a phillipson hard to find but can slid along the handle for ballance.I am playing with making them. Sounds like a fast action 4-5 might be what you may need.

Thanks. That helps. If you go forward making the seats, keep us informed. I think there would be a lot of builders interested in their application.
