Wood is a combination of maple, walnut and red cedar. Hanle is from old daiwa buggy whip rod and rod is from a broken blank.

Nice work, An eye catcher for sure, so the blank comes out of the handle?

Yes Ray,the blank is ferruled at the first decorative wrap in front of the handle. A friend of mine brought me a broken blank and asked me if I could do anything with it. He is going on a road/fishing trip to Canada & Alaska this summer and wanted a rod he could break down and carry in the trunk of his car. I had an old Daiwa buggy whip handle so I cut it and drilled it out and rod bonded the female ferrule in the end of it. The male end of the ferrule was mounted on the blank. All I had to add was the wood in the grip.
