This is my very first weave attempt. Used Doc Ski's 'deluxe walleye' pattern. Please give me advice on how to improve it. I am not very happy with the middle portions of the weave as the threads are not straight.

I hope you saw my earlier comments before the picture was lost the first time. You did a great job with the weave. It is not the easiest color change weave and you pulled it off incredibly good for a first weave. As to the threads in the center: The most important thing is for them not to actually cross over. In the center of this particular weave there is a lot of color changing from one color to another and that can cause some angling. That is ok if it is not crossing over and causing a lump or gap. After you apply the CP and let almost dry completely you might take a round handled instrument (I use a dental tool) and ROLL the threads flat. Not burnish - ROLL. If you have any other questions just drop me a line. docski377@aol.com

Looks like a Walleye to me!! I can't speak for you, but I can for myself. I am my own worst critic. I hand a rod over to someone and they think it absolutely perfect and I am sitting thinking of the half dozen flaws in it:) I can drive myself nuts...well i am kinda nuts already so it is a short trip
