I tried a crosswrap variation with diamonds and pheasant feathers wrapped on top of white metallic. Picture didn't come out very well as it is extremely shiny.

Glad you reposted, excellent work. Try taking the picturs outside with the sun at a very steep angle to the rod. You still bet a light line but it is often very thin and doesnt confuse the wrapping as much. I did that on some of my older pics. Might help. If not that is what the little trash can on the camera is for. lol.
