Shaped the cork to a curved taper from OD of thread barrel to OD of rear hood. 18 mm to 21 mm, to match a size 16 skeleton seat. The resulting "hump" mimics the IPS setup. Fills the hand better than a standard 16, and is very comfortable.

That Cobra finished skeleton is too cool...first I've seen.

Thank you. As Myles mentioned I shaped it all freehand with rasp and sandpaper.
The Cobra skeleton is no longer offered by Fuji here in Australia, but I managed to find 4 in a bin and got them all for less than the RRP of 1! Problem is that the finish does wear away a bit quickly, especially on a rod that sees as much use as mine. With a size 17 skeleton seat, this setup is the most comfortable I have ever used. It allows you to shape the insert barrel any length you want to suit your reel foot, and by trimming the threads,you can get a very neat and comfortable handle.

A size 18 fitted with the swelled insert fills the hand perfectly, and is even more comfortable than the 17 IMHO, Now trying to do something along these lines with carbon skinned foam, like Pat Vinzant's New Concept grip.
