I assume this is to help with grasping the ferrule for better assembly and disassembly?

No..., it´s just fancy artwork inbetween a eva-splitgrip. Tomorrow I will put some finish with pigment mixed in on it, then it will be done.

It´s a scrap-piece of blank, with a holographic selfadhesiv foil on it. Over the foil is rodglue with some epoxypigment in it. This ferrule will be placed between the two eva-parts of a reargrip of my next spinning rod.
