Hi Scott,
I really like how you did the butt and would like to make an attempt at doing something by using other things instead of a ring. What did you use to make the mould and how did you attached it on the eva. I have female friend who is into doing jewellery using pictures with epoxy. Naturally, its not the same epoxy we use. I might see if she can assist given that she has some experience in this area. Perhaps she may be able to incorporate some of her designs into the butt section of my rod. However,I would like see how you did it your so that she can use your tips and suggestions. If you go to her website you will see the epoxy work to get an idea of what I am talking about. [ link ]
Some of the round ones might make nice butt caps.

Bill, I tried it with a mold but the epoxy is way too thick and heats to the point of smoking within 10 minutes: [ link ]
I ended up doing it just like a rod wrap, rotating the handle and putting on coats of epoxy as thick as i could then sanding it: [ link ]
After looking at her jewelry you might want to get in touch with one of the guys that has experience with the coin inlays: [ link ]
that might be closer to what you are looking for.

Thanks Scott,
I think your 2nd attempt seems the way to go. I might also have a go a coin inlay as well.
Thank you for getting back with a reply.
