I've always liked the look of stacked leather so I decided to give it a try as a rod handle. It's 100% waterproof even if it gets chipped, a little heavy at 4oz. but could be made lighter.

Its automotive clear urethane. In brief the way its done is punch the washers, soak them in urethane for 15 to 20 minutes then allow to cure. Glue the washers to length then turn it on a lathe. Once I reached the final diameter I gave it 3 coats of urethane sanding between each than gave it one final coat. The end result is hard and solid.
