I liked the golf grip rod I built for my brother so I started one for myself This rod will have a red US Reels Supercaster reel on it.

This particular grip is designed for a 0.6" golf shaft. The blank wasn't that big so I used some 0.6" plastic tubing. I etched the tubing surface inside and out to ensure a good bond. On the tubing, where the grip was to meet the reel seat, I built up a metalset ramp to match up with the reel seat (less grip thickness). I put golf grip tape on the tubing and ramp, sloshed grip tape solvent inside the grip and over the tape. The grip slipped easily over the tube and up the ramp. I allowed the grip to overhang the ramp so that I could then cut it to match up square with the reel seat. A couple tape arbors centers the grip assembly on the blank while expanding foam fills the gap and secures the grip to the blank. I finished this rod a few weeks ago and used it in a club tournament this morning. The grip feels great, the rod worked perfectly, and I took second place to boot
