Interesting. Leaves a lot of room for some thread or maybe a snake skin.

Thanks Bill,
The reel sits inside the seat and the feet don't touch the blank. As this is a
casting rod you can have several fingers contacting the blank instead of just a part of one as with an exposed blank trigger seat. And as you said, there is plenty of room for added embelishment also!
