An older photo used to show finish level on a Batson 3mm. I quit using Forhan wraps on 4mm and smaller, and now use just 2 blocking wraps. These tiny things are almost immune to pulling out just because of the finish around the guide leg, and lack of profile for hanging up in lockers.

The only thing I could add would be to use a fly tying bodkin, or a needle to remove the excess epoxy from under the guide ring towards the rod tip, and under the ring towards the butt. You should not have an excessive build up of finish in these places.

The build up around the ring helps prevent wind knots with braid. It's by design.

Huh? How in the world would excess epoxy around a micro guide foot help anything? I'm guessing this is "tounge in cheek" humor?
Wind knots are created at the reel spool nearly 100% of the time due to slack line. The only other time is casting hard into a strong wind and the wind slows the lure yet the line keeps pealing off the spool and creates the so called "wind knot".

As you said - it does happen. There is very little for the braid to hang up on when it is ramped like this photo. Similar to the K guide profile. The epoxy ramp also helps with pull out. Do a search for posts by Bobby Feazel and Bill Stevens back in the M&M days.
Here is one reference to the ramp from 2008.

I may have caused some confusion around the micro ramps.
Yes, I told you that I like to see them (they are caused by epoxy creep on Forhan locking wraps) because I feel that they contribute to fewer braid wind knots. You rarely get a wind knot on a rod with this micro setup...

I think the key here is the micro setup maybe giving them less line hassle versus the epoxy around and in behind the guide itself?
I'd never let a micro out without a forhan wrap or with 3 times more finish than it really needs. Almost seems to defeat the purpose of a micro guide..... just me.
