It looks good. I considered doing this myself but was concerned about durability since the cork is very thin around the hood. Let us know how it holds up.

Curtis,
I, as well as several other rod builders have built literally hundreds of these style handle and they work just fine.
The cork thickness is roughly 3/32 thick and are really tough enough to be very durable.
If you want, you can use rubberized cork, which is actually one of my favorites for this style handle and the rubberized cork is about as tough as steel. i.e. it just wears for ever.
