These are crafted from solid stock acrylic. The problem in getting a true translucent effect lies in the polishing process. The outside is no problem - the interior bore is something else. Getting close but still have a long way to go. Hope to have it done in a couple more days.

About the same weight as most American hardwoods. It's not entirely practical, but just something I had been wanting to try.

How do you hide the glue/lines?

If the fit is precise (it must be) and you use a liquid epoxy, there won't be any glue visible. I've already tried this on some scrap pieces just to make sure it can be done well.

That one was hollow, this one is solid.

I have no idea how it will look after a few years, but it can be buffed to this appearance in just a minute or so thus it should always look like this.
