First rod build. Ice rod built last year as a Christmas present for my dad. Not great but good start and got me hooked. The butt end actually rests very nicely on my forearm and is well balanced. St. Croix solid carbon blank. Minima reel seat. Turned the grips with a drill and wooden mandrel. Tore a motor out of an old microwave as a drying motor. Thread wrapped with a pen and my feet as a tentioner. Learned a ton from this forum for ideas and info to help me get started, thanks to all!!
