I've been having a couple of issues with my finish not laying flat like I wanted. I got a couple of pointers from Doc and can't beleive the difference. The blank used was a DS820 MHX with a 10mm stripper guide and #4 micros to the tip. A prototype built for my self to do some field testing.

Well my friend I think you should be happy with that finish and that is a great crosswrap. Have you got your NERB certification yet?????

Doc Billy won't give me my Nerb's certification until I dump the brown's for neon colors (lol). Thanks Doc for all the help, so simple yet it was eluding me. I sanded and redid a couple more after your tutoring and they turned out perfect as well. I think that I just had an ah-ha moment.

Looks fantastic Mark. I really like the color scheme on this one. I'd be curious to hear how you like the setup of the #10M guide and 4 micros.

Mike, in a nut shell; I applied the epoxy as usual with my lathe, then brush along the length of the rod, turning the rod by hand. After you're done brushing the length of the rod, let it sit guides pointed up for 30 seconds, rotate by hand so the guides are pointed down (let it sit) for 30 seconds. Repeat for 3 cycles of guides up and guides down. Then repeat that 3 times for 40 seconds, then 3 times for 50 seconds, and 3 more times for 60 seconds. After you've gone through the cycles put it in the dryer and walk away for three hours. I'm not sure what helps more the sitting or brushing it the length of the rod, but it works. Thanks again Doc, by the way if I missed something please chime in. Scott, I used a Pac-Bay M guide in size 10mm for the striper and then a M guide in 5mm for the choker and 4mm Fuji's to the tip. It casts like a dream in the back yard. I'm planning on doing some fishing this week, so we'll see if I'm still happy with it after that.

Thanks for the feedback, Mark. I'll give that method a shot.
