BTW, the body is Brown Mallee Burl from Australia and the flare ring is Claro Walnut that I harvested from a local grove when they pulled the trees down.

I am using a Tru-oil dip method I found on another site. Essentially: sand, dip, place in a mason jar under an incandescent lamp to cure, repeat until satisfied. I do a final polish with 12,000 micro mesh.

Thanks again guys. No Jeff, my local Woodcraft was having a clearance sale on Mallee burl caps and I picked it up there. The burl wasn't impregnated, so after I cut the blank and turned it most of the way down, I did an impregnation process using acetone, plexiglass, and a mason jar in a microwave.
