These are a couple of handles made out of Maple Burl. I am making a set of Rainshadow IF904-4. For my brother and his future wife. Beautiful wood.

Great looking handles! I love to work with maple burl, it takes some time turning and sanding, but the results are worth it.

Thanks Guys, Russ, I actually got the itch for the burl by some of your photos from a while ago. I want to start doing inlays, like Mark. Just haven't gotten there, the black lines I actually scribed in then burnt with a wood burner to get the black line. Kinda like cheating I know. But you can't tell unless you look really close.

Great looking handles, Mike. I'm both a fly rod and burl wood nut. This is the best of both worlds. I like your idea of burning in the lines. I'm thinking a woodburner applied while the grip is turning could provide good results...
