This is a wrap I did on a rod for a friend who is a veteran. Had a hard time packing the upper half of the pattern (wings). Turned out ok though.

PAck from the short thrads you laid down first, to the long ones laid down last. THis will tighten right up in no time. nice job. YOur pakcing tool will be shipped tomorrow AM, the point will mak packing this nice and tight a BREEZE. Just make sure you dull the edges as I point out on my webpage.
