I would recommend that you use a smaller, lower guide for that first 180 guide - the same size as all the running guides, in fact.

The rod was built for my dad to fish for Rock fish below a dam in Tennessee. He called me last night and he caught two on it. One was 25 lbs and the other was 22 lbs. He loves it and the guys he fishes with are all wanting one. None of them had ever seen a spiral wrapped rod. He is using 30 lb braid with a short mono leader. He was casting a 5" swimbait.
Tom - The picture is a little deceiving. The 1st 180 guide is not that large, its a sz 6. What would be the advantages of going to the micro on the 1st 180 guide other than weight savings?
