Very nice work Scott. I like the contrast between the birch bark, wood and corian.

Looks really nice Scott. Totally agree with Mark. Great balance with all the different materials too. Matching winding check is subtle but ties the whole thing together.

Very nice Scott! I have trouble getting a consistent bond between wood and acrylic plate (guitar pickgaurds). What is your secret?

Thanks for the comments.

Dick I think the difference is that the acrylic is squeezed together and supported on either side. I also bore the grips out to 18mm and glue in a foam core before final shaping/turning. By doing this the outer material cant move away from each other. I also use good 2 part eopxy adhesive. Hope that explains it?

Looks Great Scott. I particularly like that Birch Barch. What's your source? Have you considered using some left over wood to turn a matching handle for that reel? That would be the Icing on the cake!

Torin

I harvest it myself [ link ] My parents live in Northern Ontario Canada. You have to go through a lot of bark to select the right stuff. Its worth the extra time though as I think it shows in the end result. I like your thinking. Have made several handles. I just change them depending on what rod Im using.
