Pretty wild Jim; I am also in the process of building an airforce rod as a retirement gift and have the exact same button for a butt cap inlay. I really like your grip work, very sharp!

Very cool. Those reel seats look so comfortable, I almost wish I fished spinners...... I like the grips too, looks like you used a candy or type of glitter in the epoxy??

Thanks guys. Steve, the "glitter" effect is from the thread pattern in the carbon material. Light reflecting off of the material gives it a real cool 3d effect as you move the rod around. Walt, unless your button is brand new you may have some wearing on teh edges or gunk buildup in the crevases of the crest. Don't use sandpaper on it, use a toothpick to pick out any gunk and buff with a dry cotton cloth to see if there is uneven wear on the blackcoat. When I was done cleaning this one up it was too shiney so I added a tiny amount of black pigment to the first coat of epoxy on the button surface. To blend the edges in with the carbon sleeve I first blackened the button edges and used black pigmented epoxy to set the button into the hollowed out end and dragged the black epoxy over the edges of the carbon sleeve and into the clear coat.
