This is a first attempt at using graphite tubing to build as a split grip. The graphite tube is 6" long - would like to shorten next time to about 4.5"

Rather interesting idea. How did it work out for you? Guess balance wouldn't be an issue cause you can move the reel to balance just right.

Phil - I have made another one for my son since - we have used it enough to tell you that I really do like it. Not cold feeling even fishing on the Mississippi yesterday (Jan. 8th) and very sensitive - light. I like the look and will be making more - especially with the new texalium tubing!!! It looks awesome - love the colors...
