Very nice work Don. Your finish work looks very clear and smoothe. Not easy with long wraps.
Billy you should know by now women are always hard to please.

Thanks for the kind words,
Billy, we are now even, as I have received the same comments on my end about your work "Why don't you make them like he does?"
Doc, thanks, the finish looks pretty good even after a fly attempted a self inlay. I am finding more micro bubbles lately, I do need to watch so see where I am generating them in the future.
This is on a G. Lommis CB843 in a GL3, it is really a sweet rod, of course I am biased

Micro bubbles - which epoxy are you using? Which CP? I do not have any bubbles in my finish at all, but I do get crystals from teh excess dried CP - shows up a lot more on darker threads. Possible that this is the source of your "bubbles"

Billy,
Flexcoat High Build, and 811, I am fairly sure it is bubbles, and I think it may be to much "brushing action". All my finish jobs are done in two coats, long strokes along the butt wrap to even things out a bit. NO sanding.
I think I just need to slow things down a bit as this is a recent development.
I do have a couple snakeskins now though. 6 to 8 hours for a wrap, apply finish, throw in dryer, run overnight, get up and look, shake head, drink a cup of coffee, look again, shake head and pull out the razor.

Do you apply heat to teh Flex coat after you apply it to the rod? I brush it on vigorously, I mix vigourously - tehre's bubbles everywhere. Once I pass teh Prorpane torch under it a few times, they all disappear. I'd hate to see what my epoxy would look like if someone didn't invent the torch. lol.

Billy- It would be aweful kind of you to post the torch procedure you're using in a step by step process for the rest of us "bubbler's"
Good work Don!

Dom - step 1: light torch. Step 2: wave torch back and forth under wrap covered with epoxy. Step 3: turn torch off. LOL!!! I use the Blue can and I have a starter thingy to light it easy, I know there's a button starter which attaches to teh top which is even easier (and more $$$). I think my kit cost me $12, a replacement can was about $5. I use heat on ALL finishes, even LS Supreme, even though you are not supposed to - works just like every other epoxy, I can't even burn it with this torch.
