That end cap was an experiment not to be repeated with 1/2" cold rubberized cork rings. I started sanding it, gave up very quickly and went to the straight blade, cutting straight down as close to flush as I could get it. I kept cutting down the same way until I had an octagon and then just trimmed the octagon points off the same way, I still have not finished sanding it down, I had to get some field testing in so I sent it with some friends and it's been passed around a few times. I'll finish that and the thread work on the epoxy ramps after ice season. All my end cap work now is done with the 1/4" hole rubberized discs, turned with the handle. They stay nicely without needing glued, so I will turn it, glue the handle without it, glue it on afterwards and use a 14" plug to finish it.
