A lot. Once you figure out what size will fit on a certian diameter grip, you trace the shape off a photocopy of the image for every color. THen glue it all up. The glue up is what takes FOREVER, and is a nasty mess. From left to right, the Bart grip took me 15 hours total, The Devil took about 7 or 8, the basketball rod was about 10-15, + another 8 for teh wrap, teh Butterfly rod there is 20 hours total with 16 going to teh grips, 4 for the wraps.

Leaning curve is literally NOTHING. My first practice is the Bart Rod. The butt grip is definately not all that good, but the foregrip came out pretty good. (notice the reverse colors of the grip + Bart is facing the opposite direction, plus the color of his clothes is reveresed).

You need to be patient. I do most of this stuff in my free time...at work I'll cut the pieces up, and I'll glue them together while watching TV at night. That probably adds a lot to the time it takes.

thanks Billy, hope one day Tom might ask you to do an article for rodmaker, if you had the time.

Do you fish with those rods or play with them in your bath tub?

The only one which doesn't get used is the Bart Simpson rod, as I HATE the blank. The Devil rod I abuse, yesterday it was totally encased in about 1" thick of ice, the reel was a giant triangle of ice. The basketball rod I've used 3 times, 2 Florida trips, and a Tuna jigging trip up here. The Butterfly rod is my MOm's, I think she used it a half dozen times. What good is it if you never use the rod?
